Privacy

Effective Date: May 19, 2026 Last Updated: May 19, 2026

Lumière ("Lumière," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the Lumière website, web application, mobile and desktop applications, and any related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by Lumiere Platforms LLC, located in Washington, United States.

By using Lumière, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who This Policy Applies To

Lumière is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 18, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us at hello@lumiereflow.com.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

Account information. When you create an account, we collect:

Content you create in the app. Lumière is designed to hold the things you organize, track, and reflect on. This includes:

Sharing and collaboration data. If you share calendars, notes, or other content with another person, we collect the email addresses you invite and information about the sharing relationship (who has access to what, and at what permission level).

Communications. If you contact us by email or other means, we keep a record of that correspondence.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Service, we and our service providers automatically collect:

2.3 Sensitive Information

Some information you may put into Lumière is sensitive in nature, including:

You decide what to enter into Lumière. We treat this information with the same care as any other content you create, and we do not sell it. You can delete this information at any time, and you can disable cycle tracking and Elle's memory in Settings.

Lumière is not a medical service. Cycle tracking and any wellness features are not medical advice or a substitute for professional care.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use the content you create in Lumière (your notes, journals, conversations with Elle, cycle data, etc.) to train AI models.

4. How Information Is Shared

We share information only as described below.

4.1 With Service Providers (Sub-Processors)

We use trusted third-party services to run Lumière. They process your information only as needed to provide their services to us, and are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.

Provider What They Do What They Receive
Google Firebase (Google LLC) Authentication, database (Firestore), hosting, file storage, cloud functions Account info, app content, files, usage logs
Anthropic, PBC Powers Elle, our AI assistant (Claude API), and analyzes anonymized samples of Elle conversations with the intent of improving the Service. Does not train on your data. When you chat with Elle, your messages and relevant app context are sent to the Claude API only to generate Elle's response to you. This isn't used to train AI models, and isn't shared beyond what's needed to power Elle. To improve Elle, we review conversation samples only after removing identifying details—names, emails, locations, and account IDs are stripped and replaced with generic labels before anything is analyzed. Only conversations from users who haven't opted out are included. If you wish to opt out, email us at hello@lumiereflow.com.
OpenAI, L.L.C. Voice transcription (Whisper API). Does not train on your data. Audio you record using the optional voice input feature
Resend Sends transactional emails Email address, name, and email content
Google Fonts Serves fonts used in the app Standard browser request data (IP address, user agent)

We periodically review our service providers. The list above may change as we add or remove providers. The current list will always be available in this Privacy Policy.

4.2 With People You Choose to Share With

If you share a calendar, note, notebook, or other item with another Lumière user by invitation, they can view or edit it according to the permission level you grant. Everyone with access can see who else has access, by email address—so your email is visible to them, and theirs to you.

You can also share a collaborative link. Anyone who opens it can access the item at the permission level you set, without an invitation, and joins the list of people with access—where, like above, emails are visible to everyone with access. Links can be forwarded, so share them carefully.

Separately, you can generate a copy link. Whoever opens it receives their own separate copy to use—they don't gain access to your original item, and no email or personal information is exchanged.

4.3 For Legal Reasons

We may share information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to:

4.4 In a Business Transfer

If Lumière is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you (for example, by email or a notice in the app) before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

4.5 With Your Consent

We may share information for any other purpose with your consent.

5. Where Information Is Stored

Lumière is operated from the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. By using Lumière, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other countries whose data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

6. How Long We Keep Information

We keep your information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Service.

7. Your Choices and Rights

7.1 Choices Available in Lumière

7.2 Rights Under U.S. State Laws (Including California)

If you are a resident of California or another U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law (such as Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, or Oregon), you may have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@lumiereflow.com. We will verify your request by asking you to confirm it from the email address associated with your account. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.

7.3 Users Outside the United States

Lumière is currently available to users in the United States only. When we expand to other regions, additional rights (such as those under GDPR) will apply and this policy will be updated accordingly.

8. Cookies and Local Storage

Lumière uses only strictly necessary cookies and local storage to:

We do not use cookies for advertising, third-party analytics, or cross-site tracking. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may limit your ability to use the Service.

8.1 First-Party Usage Data

To improve the Service and understand how features are used, we record certain in-app activity (such as which features are used, how often, and for how long). This information:

8.2 Anonymized Elle Conversation Analysis

To improve Elle, we periodically review anonymized samples of Elle conversations. Before any conversation is analyzed:

Anonymized conversations are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for thematic analysis. Only aggregate themes and patterns are surfaced — no individual conversations are reviewed by humans except as needed to investigate bugs or abuse.

You can opt out of Elle conversation analysis at any time by emailing hello@lumiereflow.com. Opted-out users are fully excluded from analysis going forward.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), authentication via Firebase, and access controls on our servers and databases. No system is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@lumiereflow.com.

10. Third-Party Links

Lumière may contain links to third-party websites or services that we do not control. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing them with any information.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service before the changes take effect. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy indicates the most recent revision. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
